A town overlooks the Vajgar Lake, whose gorgeous panorama of a Gothic castle and Renaissance chateau are reflected in the water like in a mirror, as though a silent witness of the bygone glamour of its former aristocratic inhabitants.
A town on the 15th meridian, with the Assumption of Virgin Mary Provost Church and a massive tower with a view of the entire region.

State castle and Chateau of Jindřichův HradecThe complex of buildings forming the state castle and chateau of Jindřichův Hradec is the third largest  in the Czech Republic. Spread out on over 3 hectares of land, the Castle has 320 rooms, for which the Management of the state castle and Chateau of Jindřichův Hradec holds over 500 keyes. Its interiors contain about 10.000 fine art items and approximately the same number of books.

From an architectural perspective, the Castle was first built in the Gothic style, becoming one of the most prestigious buildings of its kind. Quite unique, in the architectural sense, is also the Castle s largest Renaissance structure, known as the Adam Building, with partly preserved original interior elements in the Renaissance style. It is connected to the next building with two-level arcades.

The Museum of Jindřichův Hradec

The Museum of Jindřichův HradecFounded in 1882, has been in its present-day site on Balbin Square (Balbínovo náměstí), in the renaissance building of a former Jesuit Seminar, since 1927.

Among the outstanding exhibits of its valuable collections are: the largest mechanical folk-art nativity scene, named Krýza´s Creche after its maker, a singular collection of predominantly Gothic sculptures, and a unique assortment of painted sharpshooter targets and target-shooting weapons.
